Bengkulu, what's on...?

According to me, Bengkulu is a great place for staying away of touristy place. Thanks for the local government hasn't found yet the bloody formula to develop this resource... Foreigner might have a lot of big fans here cause the local usually really interest to make friend and take a picture with 'bule'...

The icon is the beach, Pantai Panjang. Outside the beach, you just can see the historical monuments as the attractive spot. And most of the spots are free of charge, just pay for the parking service.

Bundaran Simpang Lima

Simpang Lima is the intersection of the main streets in the city. Connecting Soeprato St, Basuki Rahmat St, S. Parman St, Soekarno-Hatta St (Anggut), and Fatmawati St (Penurunan).

Rumah Pengasingan Soekarno
Located on Soekarno-Hatta St and about 20 minutes walking distance from Simpang Lima. It costs Rp2.500 to enter the house, but it's free of charge if you just around the yard. On the Street you also can find the souvenir stores.

Kediaman Ibu Fatmawati
Located on Fatmawati St and just 5 minutes walking distance from Simpang Lima.

Masjid Jamik
Located on intersection among Soeprapto St, Jend. Sudirman St, and Bali St.

Monumen Perjuangan Rakyat Bengkulu
Located on Jend. Sudirman St, next to Bank Indonesia.

Monumen Thomas Parr
Located on Kampung (Chinatown), in front of old market, Pasar Baru Koto, near Governor Palace and Malborough Fort.

Kampung Cina
Benteng Malborough
Located on Kampung, Malborough Fort is side by side Tapak Paderi and Kampung Cina (Chinatown). It costs Rp2.500 to enter the fort.

FYI: Monumen Perjuangan, Thomas Parr, and the fort are close each other. From Soeprato St please take yellow angkot.

Makam Pangeran Sentot Ali Basha
Located on Sentot Ali Basha St, surounded by local cemetery.

Musium
Located on Pembangunan St and costs Rp2.500 to enter. Only open on working hours.

Tabot
You can see this replica almost at every intersection, called Tabot. Tabot is annual event in Bengkulu on 10th Muharam (Islamic calender).

Jalan Soeprapto
Soeprato Street is a main street in Bengkulu City. All angkots (public transportation) pass through this way. It's shopping and hanging out area like Malioboro St. in Yogyakarta, but it has wider space for the walkers and the vehicles.

Mega Mall
Mega Mall is 5 minutes walking distance from Soeprapto St, it's on K.Z. Abidin St, common called Pasar Minggu area. Around this mall is traditional market and PTM (Pasat Tradisional Modern) where you can buy negotiable stuffs.

Bengkulu Indah Mall
Located on Penurunan, BIM is the first mall in Bengkulu City.

Pantai Panjang
Pantai Panjang
Sport Center
Pantai Panjang is right behind BIM. It's long and wide area, so please rent a bike around the sport center, Rp10.000/hour.

Tapak Paderi
Pantai Panjang connects to Tapak Paderi, another sea view to enjoy the sunset with coconut and drill corn.

Pantai Zakat
donut or tyre??
Gorengan Seafood
Tapak Paderi connects to Pantai Zakat, a play area. Beside banana boat, I recommend to play with the tyre. It makes you move with the wave. I don't know what exactly people call it, but I and my friends called 'main ban'. If getting hungry, you can try seafood fries, the sellers walk around the beach.

Danau Dendam Tak Sudah
Lake view
Located on Danau St and about 15 minutes drive from Simpang Lima. Dendam Tak Sudah Lake is preservation area.

Fisherman's boat
Beside for fishing activity, the boats can be hired to Pulau Tikus. Just praying, no life jacket at all. The rate is negotiable, about Rp300.000-500.000/boat return and boat owner will wait as long as you at the island.

Pantai 'Mami'
Located near the port Pulau Baai, I n my friends called this Pantai 'Mami' because it's next to prostitution area. This is the best place to relax and float. My bule friends prefer this beach to Pantai Panjang.
